From the Dean

Department of Polymer Science and Engineering of Zhejiang University, consists of Institute of Polymer Science, Institute of Polymer Composites and Institute of Biomedical Macromolecules, was founded in 1992. It is one of the earliest academic and research units devoted to Polymer Science in China, and also one of the earliest State-established units that are entitled to granting degrees of Master and Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry and Physics and Material Science as well as providing postdoctoral posts.

Upholding Zhejiang University’s motto “seeking truth and pioneering new trails”, we aim to keep our scientific research on the cutting edge of world scientific developments. A raising number of high-quality papers are published annually, enjoying sustained interest all around the world. Today, our department owns 15 research groups led by three academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences and over 50 professors. About 100 college students, 70 Master students and 20 Ph.D. students are enrolled in our department each year. We offer them with good studying and researching facilities, intend helping them to build a future of professional, intellectual and personal success.
