October 26th, which was The Double Nine Festival, was particularly special and significant for students in Zhejiang University. On this day, the annual sports-meeting was held ceremoniously in Zijingang Campus, one of the most beautiful campuses of the university. Albeit the autumn has declared its arrival, with foliage withering and falling in frigid wind, all hearts were occupied by enthusiasm and excitement. Hence, in the opening ceremony, there was an ocean of people and the bleachers were even overcrowded. Suddenly the campus was filled with rejoicing and festivity. The mild sunshine was shedding everywhere, spreading its warmth to each corner. Gathering together in the sunshine, everyone was eager to witness this grand meeting.
The end of the ceremony meant the start of various kinds of matches, in which all athletes competed with their opponents via persevering endeavor. So energetic they were that even though they were wet through, they still went all out to rival. Jubei Wang, one of the faculty members of DPSE, persisted in training in his spare time. Thus in 5000-meter race, as expected, Mr. Wang ran ahead of most of the runners and finally ranked fifth in staff group. When 1500-meter race began with the sound of a gunshot, another member of our faculty, Jun Wang, rushed forward like a horse. The competition was rather fierce, however, by virtue of his proficient skills and powerful strength, he emerged from the race and at last, he was in the seventh in youth staff group. In shot-put game, two athletes of DPSE tossed out the shot vigorously. Camber lines of different radians crossed the air time after time, always accompanied by rapturous applause and cheer of the audience. The attention was paid to the track and field again due to the beginning of 4×400-meter relay. Four members of DPSE participated in this event. Gearing up, each of them ran swiftly on the track like an arrow, without any impression of weakness. Weijun Tong was the first runner and Kefeng Ren followed, while Hua Tian was in the third place and Gaohe Wang, the director of DPSE office, ran the final leg. Through tacit cooperation, they tried their best to keep rushing and deliver the bar successively. Although they lost the race by 0.03 second, they provided us with a visual feast. As an old saying goes, life lies in motion. All athletes interpreted it by their actual action!
The sky changed its face in the second day. With the flying of yellow leaves in the air, the season seemed to be announcing its alternation. Nippy wind ruthlessly took away the only warmth remained on the ground, none the less, the enthusiasm and joy would never fade away. Every athlete of DPSE, with unremitting effort and great perseverance, accomplished his/her own contest in drastic contend. Even though they did not win medals, they harvested the most meritorious fruits, the happiness and pleasure brought by their fascinating and wonderful performance! Ultimately, the sports-meeting came to an end at 4 o’clock in the afternoon.
Before the meeting, the labour union of DPSE carried out extensive mobilization, following with the organization of application to take part in the game. Afterwards the union arranged relevant events aboratively. Meanwhile, they prepared mineral water, napkin, towels, as well as snacks and fruits for the athletes. They also sent their sincere encouragements and genial regards to them. In fact, the sports-meeting itself is a nice platform on which members of faculty are able to communicate and collaborate with each other. There is no doubt that it is a rewarding experience which will do help to enhance their mutual friendship enormously, the whole faculty will also become a team full of cohesion!
This splendid meeting showed us a lot of moving scenes, too. Touched and impressed, I could not help but took pictures of those valuable and affecting moments. We also took some group photos in memory of this unforgettable experience. Enshrouded by the atmosphere of cheer and delight, it seemed that we were in a fictitious land of passion and vitality, in which we talked about the dribs and drabs of the sports, shared our own feelings and appreciated the unique glamour of exercise. We were endowed with a precious opportunity to arouse our potentiality and release our energy, to cry out that we would never give up. If we believe in ourselves, we would overcome any difficulties and challenges come across in the future.
The game was over, nevertheless, no one was willing to leave. There were so many events worth commemorating happening in these two days. Looking forward, we will reach a new height the next time!
