The Fifth ¡°Polymerization Cup¡± Physical Culture Festival ¨C the Badminton Match

Time£º2014-04-05 17:05

On March 30th, 2014, the Fifth “Polymerization Cup” Physical Culture Festival of DPSE was finally unveiled. The badminton match, which attracted twelve teams to participate in, began first at 1:00pm. These teams were established by undergraduate students eager to fight for their classes, or graduate students longing for defending their own institutes’ honor. Every team had to take part in three matches – men’s singles, women’s singles and the mixed doubles. Each match was a one-off game and only those winning more matches than other teams could be promoted to the next round.

After two-round fierce competitions, the undergraduates’ team from class 1002, the second and the fourth team from the Institute of Polymer Science (IPS) defeated their opponents and ranked as the top-three teams.Competition of the next round was determined by casting lots on site. The team getting the “game free” lot would be directly promoted to the final, while the other two teams had to go through the semi-final and fight for a place in the final round. Finally, the second team from IPS got the chance.

With all-out effort, the semi-final was an extremely fierce and tense competition. The fourth team from IPS won the women’s singles match, but failed in the following men’s singles. In the decider, the players from the undergraduates’ team performed even better after a short break, and finally they won the match and made it into the final contest.

In the final, the women player from the second team of IPS was in good condition and helped her team won the first match with her better skills. Followed by was the cliff-hanging men’s singles match, in which the two players took turns leading, thus presenting the audiences with a suspensive game. This drastic race ended in the second team of IPS’s victory, which meant they finally succeeded in winning the championship with a 2-0 triumph over the undergraduate team in this badminton match.

We believe that this event will not only help the students take part in physical exercise more positively and become more energetic in their studies, but also enhance the cohesiveness of DPSE. Many of them make friends because of the ball game and make an appointment to play badminton again. It is also our hope that more students will show interests in badminton after this exciting match!
