The Team of Polymer Science and Engineering had their first match on March 15th, competing against the Team of Agriculture Department.
The match began at 12:30 at noon on the soccer ball field near XinQiao Door of Yuquan Campus. Though our opponent did not participate in the last year’s competition, it recruited several high-level members this year. Though our team was a first-class team, we were unfortunately at the stage of transition from the senior generation to the younger generation, so the members were not quite familiar with each other and therefore not fully prepared. All those factors made this match unpredictable.
At 21 minutes in the first half of the match, the vanguard of Agriculture Team got his first score. Then we fought back, and got a free kick in front left at 30 minutes. The captain made it, and the ball hit the far corner of the goal following a high arc. We ended the first half of the match by 1 to 1.
For the next half, problems occurred in the mid-field and players began to feel exhausted, resulting in disconnection between the front court and the back court, let alone organizing effective attack. But for the opponent, they have seized the chance to get two more points at 46 minutes and 66 minutes by Anzhao ye and Zhiyong Li respectively. So the match ended by 1 to 3.
Losing the first match, we have to calmly analyze the factors from all perspectives, and make up for our shortcomings. We still have two matches ahead, so we hope that all the team members keep their spirits up and actively prepare for next matches.
