-----A Lecture Given by Prof. Chao Gao
Prof. Chao Gao, the inventor of the lightest material in the world, gave a lecture about polymer science at room 1-406 of the west building, April.14th, 2013. The lecture aimed at deepening students’ understanding of polymer science and increasing their interests in the polymer major.

Starting with his new research finding------graphite aerogel, the lightest material in the world, Prof. Chao Gao introduced polymer science from the elementary to the profound in every aspect. Fascinated by the wide applications, excellent performance and promising prospect of polymer material, students attended were all attracted by polymer science. The convincing proofs provided by Prof. Chao Gao indicated that the field of Polymer science in China has great strength and infinite potential, which inspired and excited all the students. Moreover, Prof. Chao Gao talked about the difficulties faced by his research team during the research, enlightening the students on the importance of persistence in the process of scientific research. Much time as the two-hour lecture took, students all enjoyed this witty lecture given by Prof. Chao Gao.

Following the lecture came the Q&A session. Questions about polymer science raised by these active students and the keen and accurate response of Prof. Chao Gao made the lecture’s atmosphere very lively. Convinced by the answers provided by Prof. Chao Gao, students gave him good rounds of applause. Since it was such a precious opportunity, many students who are interested in polymer science would have further discussion with Prof. Chao Gao after the lecture.
In the end, students gave warm applause to Prof. Chao Gao for his splendid lecture, which gave them an overall view and deeper understanding of polymer science.
