-----A job hunting sharing was successfully held

In the evening of March 27th, a sharing of experiences for hunting jobs was ceremoniously held in 228 meeting room in the polymer building. Four guests, Xiao-lian Hu, Yong-fu Sun, Yan-ping Lu and Chen Ye, who have just graduated in March 2013 were specially invited to share their own experience with participants.

At 6:30pm, the activity began with an ingenious and attractive video, accompanied with the rapturous applause from all audiences. The compere, Xiao-fan Liu, announced the beginning of the event, following with the introduction of the four special guests. This experience exchange was divided into four parts: Guest interview—what should I do, Interactive session—occupational psychology test, Guest interview—Get ready and start, Interactive session—Q&A.

First coming the interview part—what should I do, hosted by Jing-yi Nie. In this part, each guest shared their individual job hunting experiences; they also provided their own opinions on the questions put forward by hostess, such as “how to know what kind of work is suitable for me to occupy”, “the advantages and disadvantages when hunting jobs as a master or doctor”, “whether there exists gender discrimination in recruitment or not” and so on. The attentions of audiences were tightly caught and many of them showed agreement with guests’ opinions by nodding their heads time to time.

Then it was followed by the interactive session—occupational psychology test. The audiences were asked to answer 15 questions on the screen and calculate the total mark according to their own answers and the corresponding scores. The guests also joined the test group, with curiosity and interest, to see if the result of thepsychological test was consistent with their actual situation. The audiences took the test with full attention, calculating their scores and got the occupational psychology types belonging to them. Some also yielded to the curiosity and couldn’t wait to look at others’ answers and scores. A heated discussion about the results then became inevitable and the whole meeting room was filled with noise and excitement.

The interview continued when the interactive session temporarily came to an end. The compere first asked the four guests some questions which were mainly concerned, such as “how to be excellent and competitive”, “how to promote the integrative competence when confronting with heavy academic pressure at the same time”, “how to obtain the internship opportunity and acquire the offer finally”. Subsequently, Jing-yi Nie consulted the guests about the skills to cope with job interviews and the characteristics to impress HRs. The guests also narrated the most impressive and stressful happenings they met during hunting jobs. They always combined the descriptions with their personal experience, offered the audiences with practical and useful advices to help solve their difficulties and provided their answers and viewpoints to the most concerned questions. Certainly, they also received applause and cheers from the audiences.

Ultimate part of the activity was the second interactive session, in which the audience could ask questions freely. Then suddenly there was a tremendous wave of questioners. There is a wide range of questions involved English, certificate, curriculum vitae, profession change, salary, as well as the study planand the value of further education. At last, the event came to its end with warm applause, but there were still many students intending to communicate with the guests afterwards.

In order to enhance the occupational consciousness of the students in DPSE, helping them entrench the direction of their development in the future and promoting their employment competitiveness, the Youth League Committee, the Graduate Student Union and the Undergraduate Student Union of DPSE jointly organized this activity of sharing the experience for hunting jobs. The participants were generally those who were preparing to find their own job, including some students from other departments. The warm atmosphere, the enthusiasm of audience, as well as the outstanding behavior of guests, made it unreasonable to suspect the value and significance of this activity. I believe everyone, more or less, must have obtained something they really need at present. The occupational consciousness should be seriously thought, the direction of future development has to be determined on our own and the individual capabilities also need to be developed and promoted before we leave the university and enter the society. Thus this activity is only a beginning, with its great value and unique meaning.

Wish each student can drive the existing puzzles away, hunt an ideal job and create a beautiful future!
