 | Professor Alex K.-Y. Jen is the Boeing/Johnson Chair Professor of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Washington. He is a noted scholar in the field of organic electro-optical materials. He received his Ph.D. in chemistry in 1984 from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. From 1984-1997, he was Research Scientist in Allied-Signal Inc.; from 1997-1999, Associate Professor in Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Washington. His present research focuses on ultra-low-cost and efficient polymer solar cells, highly efficient white light polymer LEDs for solid-state lighting, low power and ultrahigh-speed organic photonic devices to improve energy efficiency for computation and telecommunication.
