On the morning of October, 18th, over a hundred teachers and students from Department of Polymer Science and Engineering visited Huang long Stadium for the 8th National Games for The Disabled. They brought with them their cheers and encouragement for the brave athletes.
The 8th National Games for The Disabled was held in Zhejiang Province from October 11th to October 19th. Everyone from our department helped a lot in the Game, as a resident of Hangzhou, the host city; and as a member of Zhejiang University. On one hand, some students were selected as volunteers to serve the Game; on the other hand, a group of students were gathered as spectators to cheer for the athletes. DPSE took these actions not only to provide their support for the Game, but also to help students better understand the beauty of life as well as the spirit of sports.
The Game begun with a rising sun and its glowing light. Various kinds of sports were under intense competition on the field: javelin, discus, shot, etc. The dedicated and professional performance of the athletes was so inspiring. Whenever a javelin thrower achieved a gorgeous bid, the spectators responded immediately through thunderous applauses and cheers. And everyone got moved when a blind runner reached the finish line under the help of guide volunteers. Every athlete was very arduous, even when the sport event he was engaged in only involved one participant, that is, himself. They were striving to move ahead of themselves. Each athlete earned ardent applauses from the audience, regardless of what his final result was. Each of them was a genuine hero, who challenged their fate and fulfilled themselves through industrious efforts as well as respectable courage.
At stand No.11, students of DPSE got deeply moved and inspired by the athletes. They cheered and blessed for each of the athletes with their greatest passion. The waving flag of DPSE decorated the field with its splendor.
The game ended with the setting sun. Though exhausted, everyone was impressed by this unforgettable experience. The genuine beauty comes out of the love for life, the pursuit for freedom as well as a heart that never compromise.
