During the golden autumn, department of polymer science and engineering(DPSE) welcomed the enrollment of 2010 postgraduate freshmen.
The time of fresh students signing in was from August 31st to September 1st. Members of Graduate Student Union of polymer science and engineering were organized to serve as guiders, mainly for FAQ of fresh students at the Yongqian Activity Center, offering them convenience as well as propagating the Student Union of our department. Up to Sep 1st, all of the 92 fresh postgraduates have signed in.
On Sep 2nd, Qingwen Wang, the deputy secretary of the Party of the department, presided the Greeting Meeting. Professor Zhikang Xu, dean of DPSE, first delivered a warm and gracious speech of welcome and left two questions worthy of cogitating:"What is postgraduate?" and "Why should we pursue postgraduate degree?", which found an echo among the students. Then, professor Qi Wang, vice dean, gave an introduction about the development and faculty of DPSE. After that, Professor Hongzheng Chen, vice dean, communicated with the students about the study and life on campus in details, and expressed her best wishes for their coming postgraduate life in Zhejiang University.
Consequently, speech of professor Zhiquan Shen, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS), promoted the meeting to the climax. Prof. Shen stressed and reminded young students of the paramount importance of independent innovation, and earnestly inculcated students to work hard for our country's and overall national interests, which is also a historical misson of every scientific worker.

Additionally, Tong Shen, teacher of graduate division of department, reminded new postgraduates of key items and required all students to complete personal information online; Jiao Meng, teacher of Youth League Committee, gave an outline of several aspects about ideological and political work; Xiaona Gong, vice president of Graduate Student Union introduced the Graduate Student Union and welcomed the students to join in.
The greeting meeting ended with a warm applause. |
