On May 15th 2015 Zhejiang University held the Opening Ceremony of 2015 Academic Annual Conference plus the award party for Ten Top Academic Progress & Ten Top New Academic Achievements. 2011 PhD candidate Liu Yujing’s works about mono-crystalline functionalization won 2015 Ten New Academic Achievements Award of Zhejiang University "Qi Zhen Cup" and it is the second time that our department student was awarded since this award was set up in 2014. Our DPSE department have the honor to win "Qi Zhen Cup" organization award due to the outstanding performance in work organization. Liu Yujing innovatively synthesized ternary blends of single crystal, polymer, nanoparticle by gel growth method, to form calcite single crystals with extrinsic properties. This achievement made the gel single crystal growth method which have a hundred years of history a new platform to get functional monocrystalline. Such achievement may provide opportunities for the wide application of more excellent non-intrinsic single crystal materials such as solar cells, transistors, light emitting diodes, and others. This work got much support from his tutor, Professor Li Hanying who commented "Liu Yujing has brought new life to the single crystal material by means of polymer." By SHF |
