At 18:30 of March 26th, 2014, the grand experience exchange meeting of 2014 graduates, named “Singing along the Road to Future”, was held in Room 228 of Polymer Building. Zhi Lin, the director of Career Guidance Sector of Career Guidance and Service Center of ZJU, Lei Xia, Vice Dean of DPSE, and five representatives of excellent graduates named Xiangshe Liu, Lixin You, Rong Zhou, Yuan Gao and Junjie Li respectively, were invited to this meeting.
Yingying Zhang, the vice president of Postgraduate Association, presided over the meeting. Composed of four parts, the meeting began with an opening speech by Lei Xia. He first greeted Zhi Lin with warm welcome and heartfelt gratitude, and then put emphasis on the significance of this meeting and the importance of career guidance. The subsequent session was guidance on career planning. As our honored career planning guest, Zhi Lin gave a fantastic report called Analysis of Employment Situation and Career Planning. With follow-up surveys of graduates in recent years, right job preparation for undergraduate students, career planning, campus recruiting and internship information, and websites for job-seeking involved, the rich content of the report attracted the students’ full attention. They nodded now and then as they listened. In the following Q&A period, hands filled the air. Targeted answers to all the questions and guidance for career planning were given by Miss Lin to all the students present, deepening their insight of current employment situation and career planning.
Next came the most exciting session---experience exchange. With warm applause and cheers, five elder students came to the front stage and sat with the host, speaking glowingly of their school experience, career planning, job interviews and internship experience. Based on their personal experience, they gave humorous answers to the host’s questions and sometimes even cited the classics, resulting in bursts of laughter from the students in attendance. During this interview, we realized that the success of our elder brothers and sisters were not achieved in one day, the thing we needed to learn from them most was firm dream and persistence.
The last session Q&A received an active response from the students of all grades. Many aspects were involved, including internship application, career orientation, and elder students’ attitudes towards campus communities. Our elder brothers and sisters answered the questions earnestly and sent their best wishes to all the students of DPSE, leading to continuous laughter and the upsurge of the meeting. Owing to the limited time, sincere gratitude was sent again to the elder students for their participation. On behalf of the Postgraduate Association and the Student Union, the host delivered his blessing of a bright future to the students of DPSE, hoping they sing along the road to future and achieve success.
In the big round of applause, the experience exchange meeting came to a successful end at 21:00 sharp. Afterwards, many students came to the stage to communicate with their elder sisters and brothers face to face and gained a lot.
Focusing on career planning and experience sharing, this experience exchange meeting played a significant role in career navigation, helping the students to get a clear understanding of the employment situation and make good plans for their future career.
