Due to the active participation and propelling of the researchers including those in DPSE, China and Portugal have obtained abundant achievements in the collaboration and communication in the fields of advanced materials. As a result, the international science cooperation institute——“China-Portugal coalition in advanced materials innovation center”, which is supported by governments of the two countries, will be officially founded in Zhejiang University.
The organization sets advanced materials as a prior collaboration field and will be constructed by Zhejiang University and Portuguese National Science Fund Councils. With the unremitting efforts of the two countries in science cooperation, the industry innovation of both sides is supposed to be further consolidated and the utilization of achievements in the market is expected to be facilitated as well. Four research bases and transferred incubation bases concerns Biomedicalbiomedical materials and devices, Nanotechnology and materials, Energy materials and Environmental materials, are to be set up. The innovative scientific programs, which are in accordance with the objectives and demands of industrial development, will be conjointly developed by universities, research institutes and enterprises in China and Portugal. It is also anticipated to accomplish industrialization for those projects in some incubators such as Hangzhou Emerging Science and Technology Center. Surely the establishment of this innovation center has a profound influence on the researches and international cooperation of DPSE.
