Report of Professor Steve Granick from UIUC

Professor Steve Granick

Professor Steve Granick received his B.A. cum laude from Princeton University in 1978 and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1982. He joined the faculty of the University of Illinois in 1985 following postdoctoral research at the Collège de France with P.-G. de Gennes and at the University of Minnesota with Matthew Tirrell. Presently he is Founder Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, as well as Professor of Chemistry, Physics, and Biophysics.

His honors include: National ACS Award in Colloid and Interface Science, 2013; ACS Langmuir Lecturer, 2011; Senior International Scientist of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 2010; National Polymer Physics Prize, American Physical Society, 2009; Chair, Division of Polymer Physics, American Physical Society, 2006. His research interests are in the areas of polymers, complex fluids and biomaterials, publishing hundreds of papers on Science, Nature, PNAS, Nano Lett, JACS, PRL, etc.
