Resume of Career:
Mingsheng Xu received his B.Sc from Wuhan University of Technology in Materials Science and Engineering (1996), M.Sc from Zhejiang University in Materials Science and Engineering (1999), and Ph.D in electronic engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR (2003). He joined the Nanoelectronics Collaborative Research Center at The University of Tokyo in 2003 and remained there until 2007. He also joined the Venture Business Laboratory at Chiba University (Japan) in 2005. Since 2007 he works at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan, and in 2008 for a tenure-track arrangement and stayed there until Spring 2010. He joined the Zhejiang University, China, in 2010 as a professor. He has broad interests in scanning probe microscopy, π-electron materials and opto-electronic devices, and nano-biological interactions. He has published over 30 papers in peer-reviewed international journals, and holds 2 patents.
Current Research Interests:
- π-electron materials and functional devices (e.g., Graphene for biomedicine and clean energy; Organic electronics)
- Electronic DNA sequencing
- Nano-biological interaction (e.g., Nanotoxicity; Nano-Bio-Interface)
