Organic Photodetectors

  Organic π-conjugated small molecules and polymers are appealing materials due to their potential to realize large area and flexible optoelectronic devices. Our group studies the application of organic semiconductors and organic-inorganic hybrids as the active layer of the UV or near-infrared light detectors. The molecular structure is controlled to tune the bandgap width to realize spectral sensitivity. The morphology and interface are studied to optimize photo generation, charges transport and radiative recombination to obtain high responsivity and rapid response. The detectors target innovative applications for large-area, low cost acceptors, imagers and scanners in fields of heath care and wireless communication.
