Job Description:
- Carry out research and development work on engineering thermoplastics products; In particular to develop analytical competency to meet new product development.
- Provide solid understanding of material requirements, customer test protocols and material qualification process to meet current and emerging analytical needs of internal and external customers
- Proactive in problem solving and have the leadership and communication skills to help solve various customer issues.
- Provide technical guidance to lab operation and plant quality control, seek continuous improvement of efficiency and quality
- Work with manufacturing to implement quality control tools, improve existing tools and resolve production quality issues.
- Utilize statistical skills in analytical method develop and product quality control
Prior Work Experience/capabilities:
· Prior work experience/knowledge of polymer characterization and material property evaluation including trouble shooting and integrate analytical capability are big plus.
Qualifications:
· Ph.D. or Master with 3 year + experience in Chemistry or Material/Polymer Science.
· Technical expertise in one or more of the following fields is required:
- Spectroscopy/Elemental Analysis (FT-IR/NIR, Raman, NMR, ICP, NMR, IC, ICP)
- Polymer/Additive Separation Science (GC, GC/MS, HPLC, GPC, MALS, CHDF)
- Thermal Analysis/Polymer Rheology/Physical Testing
· Capable of business and technical communication in English.

· Carry out research and development work on engineering thermoplastics products; anticipate technologies to meet future markets and customer needs. Understand competitive product landscapes.
· Provide solid understanding of material requirements, customer test protocols and material qualification process.
· Collaborate and leverage global resources to solve various customer issues and provide technical support to field and market team. In particular to develop and commercialize new engineering thermoplastic products/blends to meet the customer needs.
· Proactive interaction with Commercial, Marketing and Application Design Specialists to understand new opportunities and assist in customer need mapping sessions and education on available technologies when necessary.
· Work with Product Technology, ColorXpress, Manufacturing, Sourcing and Commercial organizations to implement new products, improve existing materials and resolve product issues.
· Utilize technical and leadership skills in the six-sigma product design process.
Prior Work Experience/capabilities:
· Prior work experience/knowledge of polymer chemistry, product development, process engineering are big plus.
· Strong knowledge of color theory, colorants, coloring of plastic materials, and measurement of color are desired.
Qualifications:
· Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Material Science, or Polymer Process Engineer preferred.
· Capable of business and technical communication in English.
